Demonstration page. This page shows the consumer opt-in flow used by participating shops on the BenchNote platform. It is provided for A2P 10DLC campaign review and for consumers, shops, and carriers to verify our opt-in process. This is not a live intake form — consumers actually opt in at the shop counter, over the phone at intake, or by texting the shop's dedicated update line. Last updated: July 13, 2026.

Sample consumer SMS opt-in

How opt-in happens on the BenchNote platform — end to end.

1. Program summary a consumer sees

BenchNote is a US-based transactional messaging platform used by independent custom-build shops ("participating shops") to send order-status updates to their own customers. Every SMS is sent by the specific shop the consumer placed an order with, from that shop's own dedicated 10-digit US phone number. BenchNote is the software layer; the shop is the sender.

The consumer is told they will receive, from that specific shop only:

  • A weekly status update on any active order (typically Monday morning)
  • An update when their order moves to a new stage of work
  • Brief replies to status questions the consumer texts back

No marketing, no promotions, no third-party offers. Frequency: typically 1–4 messages per month per active order.

2. Verbatim disclosure staff reads to the consumer

"We can text you updates about your order from our shop's phone number — a weekly check-in and a message any time your order moves to a new stage of work. Is that OK?"

"You can reply STOP any time to opt out. Message and data rates may apply. It's totally optional — we can also just use email or call if you'd rather."

The same disclosure is used in person at the counter and over the phone at order intake.

3. Production intake form (screenshot)

Screenshot of the live customer-intake dialog inside the BenchNote shop dashboard at app.benchnote.ai. Shop staff open this dialog after the consumer verbally agrees. The SMS-opt-in disclosure sits directly above the consent checkbox so staff sees the exact wording every time; the box is unchecked by default and consent is never a condition of service.

Below is a boxed disclosure that reads: 'SMS opt-in disclosure — read to the customer: We can text you updates about your order — a weekly check-in and a message when your order moves to a new stage. Reply STOP any time to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.' Below the disclosure is an unchecked checkbox labeled 'Customer agreed to receive text updates' with helper text: 'By checking this you're confirming the customer verbally consented to receive order-status SMS from Dave at Maple City. Consent, source, and timestamp are recorded. Customers can revoke any time by replying STOP.' Below that is a Notes (internal only) textarea, and a Save customer button.

Text (SMS)

SMS opt-in disclosure (read to the customer): "We can text you updates about your order — a weekly check-in and a message when your order moves to a new stage. Reply STOP any time to opt out. Message and data rates may apply."

Consent is recorded with a timestamp, the shop staff who captured it, and the disclosure version. Consumers who decline the checkbox still receive service — BenchNote is opt-in and never a condition of purchase.

4. First SMS the consumer receives after opting in

Sent from the shop's dedicated 10-digit number within minutes of intake:

Hey Sarah — Dave here at Maple City Customs. You're set to receive order updates from this number. We'll text you when your order changes stage and once a week with a status check-in. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply.

7. What consumers never receive

  • No messages from BenchNote directly to a shop's customers
  • No cross-shop messaging (each shop's opt-in is scoped only to that shop)
